Verbier (Nendaz), Switzerland

Nendaz is an attractive village set on a large plateau above the town of Sion in the Rhone Valley. It is surprisingly large for a resort so few British people have heard of, and its facilities are more in line with those of many much bigger villages.

The skiing and boarding opportunities are equally impressive, chiefly because Nendaz is located centrally within the Four Valleys ski area (which takes in Verbier, Siviez, Vesonnaz and Thyon also) and because its mainly North facing slopes hold onto the snow for longer. The local ski pass area has been described as being larger than the entire ski regions of most resorts in the world.

While lacking some of the glamour of Verbier, Nendaz does have some luxurious properties and its location means you will have great access to the entire ski area.
