Saas Fee, Switzerland

Saas Fee is a charming Swiss village in the Valais area with some lovely luxury chalets; it is high at 1,800m and surrounded by stunning mountains. The village is picturesque and traffic free, apart from horse-drawn sleighs and small electric vehicles, with a variety of bars, restaurants and shops in the town. There is good skiing for all standards of skier, including excellent lower slopes for beginners.

With its luxury chalets, Saas Fee really is like a miniature Zermatt. The town and the ski area are a bit smaller, but it is easier for families with the beginners' slopes in the centre of the resort; the prices are also a bit more reasonable. It is a great spot for Easter with the high altitude skiing and ideal for families, but the overall ski area is fairly small for more adventurous skiers.
