Les Arcs (Vallandry), France
Linked into the impressive Les Arcs ski area, Vallandry and adjoining Plan Peisey (which is confusingly sometimes called Peisey Vallandry) are situated very close to the new Vanoise Express cable car that links to Montchavin of the La Plagne ski area, thereby creating the world's third largest linked ski circuit - The Paradiski area with 425km of piste! Up to a few years ago Vallandry / Plan Peisey were located Western extremes of the Les Arcs ski area. Now the small resort of Vallandy finds itself at the hub of the huge ski domain that combines Les Arcs with La Plagne.
The luxury chalets of Vallandy and Plan Peisey are constructed in typical Savoyard style, using local stone and timber making it more attractive than most purpose built resorts. Although there is a reasonable array of amenities including shops, bars, restaurants, a cinema, bank and creche the nightlife atmosphere remains pretty quiet. Perfect for families and those wanting to on the skiing than the partying, especially as many of the luxury chalets enjoy ski in/out convenience.
