Luxury chalets in Courchevel Le Praz

FRANCE

Courchevel 1300, or Le Praz as it’s known by the locals, is a friendly, traditional rural village. It remains quiet, pleasant and a good base for families with children. However, please note that some of the luxury chalets in Courchevel Le Praz are set away from its two gondolas so a short walk in the morning may be required. The links to Courchevel 1850 are generally very efficient. However, skiers can take advantage of the resort's free connecting bus service to Courchevel 1850 as well.

The pistes leading down to the resort are particularly pleasant – most are tree lined and they are also perfect for bad weather days. For gastronomic connoisseurs lunch or dinner at the Bistrot du Praz is highly recommended and reputed to be one of the best eateries in the entire Three Valleys, famed for its foie gras chaud.

As a small resort there are only a few luxury chalets in Courchevel Le Praz. However, there is only one chalet in the Alps with its own squash court, as far as we know, and it happens to be here. So if you are a squash loving skier who also is looking for a luxury ski holiday then Courchevel Le Praz is the place to book.

  • Pros

  • Village atmosphere

Resort Restaurants

If you're looking for top notch food, try the Bistrot du Praz. A long time favourite, this restaurant has got even better under its new ownership with stunning food and reasonable prices. In Le Praz, the Michelin starred Azimut is a great place to experience Michelin fine dining at a much more affordable price, with a 3 course menu for 28 Euros. To sample great local cuisine head to le Cave d'a Cote. At the heart of this traditional village, the hotel Peupliers is located on the edge of the lake. The hotels fine restaurant La Table de Mon Grand Pere serves a range of seafood and authentic local cuisine. The Cave de Lyrs is a cool, vaulted wine bar serving tapas-style snacks if you're looking for something for relaxed.

Mountain Restaurants

Within the Three Valleys there are plenty of mountain restaurants to indulge in. If you're looking for something close to Le Praz then the best restaurant to visit would be at Praz-Juget. Reach this by taking the Foret lift up and skiing down the blue run; Arolles. From here you can also take the Dou des Lanches chairlift to get to the top the Col de la Loze.

Apres Ski

Apres ski is limited in Courchevel Le Praz, but there are still about 5 bars to try. A relatively new bar in le Praz called the Dropp Inn bar, has cheap drinks with really friendly staff and pool tables to keep you entertained. Wine Wednesdays are a hit, with all glasses only 3 euros and free nibbles. Very popular with ski instructors and seasonaires this bar has a very cool vibe. L'escourchevel - pizzeria and sports bar - is a great place for weekly live music and drinks. A popular choice here is the Vodka Freeze, a combination of slush puppy and vodka. La Cave des Lys is a stunning wine bar located in a vaulted cellar perfect for sophisticated drinks and nibbles.

Nightlife

There isn't much nightlife in Le Praz, but L'Escorch-vel stays open until about 2am (over the weekend anyways!).
