Zurs, Austria
Zurs is a very upmarket ski resort in the Arlberg region of Austria - perfect for a luxury ski holiday. Snow is usually guaranteed in this resort which is good for beginners and intermediates, and St Anton is only a bus ride away for more adventurous skiers. On the piste, Zurs doesn't offer too much for the advanced skier or boarder but there is some great steep and deep off piste to be found, and it is also possible to go heli skiing.
Zurs is a highly fashionable resort. The majority of the accommodation options available are 4 and 5 star luxury hotels. While the village does not have much atmosphere, the hotels are excellent and have their own restaurants, clubs and even a piano bar in the Alpenhof. The village is purpose built, and not the prettiest, and off the mountain there isn't very much to entertain you.
Zurs offers a great alternate option to Lech and St Anton for anyone wishing to enjoy a luxury ski holiday in a great hotel without the heady nightlife of the rest of the Alberg region.
There are 7 bars in Zurs but the atmosphere and quality of these places makes up for the lack in options. For a bit of history and knowledge, Zurs was the first resort in Austria to have a ski lift.
