Zug, Austria
Zug is a charming and tiny village (hamlet really) that is situated half way between Zurs and Lech on the 'White Circle' ski route. There are a few traditional and cosy restaurants here, the best of which is the Klosterle. There is also a lovely and rather luxurious four star hotel in Zug, The Gasthof Rote Wand, making the resort an interesting option for those seeking luxury ski holidays in intimate settings.
Zug suits those that want to really get away from it all and just relax in the mountain air. There are lovely quiet walking trails in the valley leading from Zug and also the cross country ski trail that links with Lech, which is 9 kilometres away. For skiers there is a long chair that arrives at the Kriegerhorn (2,150 m) high above Lech, which accesses masses of easy blue runs, largely facing East and catching the morning sun. To return to Zug at the end of the day you can either download the chair, take the itinerary route back or catch a post bus from Lech.
