Formerly an elegant hunting lodge for the local nobility, this private retreat comprises 42 acres of woods and meadows at an altitude of 1,200 metres. The rustic 16th-century chalet owes its charm to the perfect combination of rural traditions and the aesthetic aspirations of its former aristocratic landlords. The heavy and elaborately carved front door welcomes visitors with the promise of a luxurious stay. The tall vaulted ceiling of the entrance area sets the tone for the entire lodge and but is a pleasant balance to the snug and homely atmosphere of the luxurious, predominantly wooden interior. With loving care the owners Giorgia and Stefano have breathed new life into the old building and have created an unexpectedly luxurious refuge amidst unspoilt local landscape. Giorgia and Stefano take good care of their guests. The couple share with guests their love of the beautiful landscape, the fascination with the calming rhythm of nature and their enthusiasm for the culinary delights of the local region. The couple, parents of three children, were top managers in the world of fashion in Rome. Owing to his drive, his creativeness and business sense Stefano, who grew up in the harsh mountain region around Lago Maggiore, had worked his way up through the management echelons of an international fashion house, while Giorgia had been born into a Roman family that played a leading role in Italian fashions, and had successfully worked in the industry for years. Deep in her heart of hearts, however, she had always harboured the dream of living in the seclusion of her beloved mountains, which she had first got to know in the summers of her childhood. When the two met in the course of their work, they time and again fled to South Tyrol in order to get away from the chaos of the business world around them. It was on one of these trips that they discovered the run-down "Unterramwaldhof" high up in the mountains above St. Lorenzen/San Lorenzo di Sebato (Pustertal Valley), and immediately fell in love with what was later to become San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge.
