The owners of La Maison in Montriond were after something truly unique. And that is exactly what they have created. Taking an original 1749 Savoie 'town house', which was quietly sitting derelict in the main village square of Montriond, they lovingly resorted it to a one-of-a-kind town house blending traditional ski chalet elements with the magic of a grand historic residence. The chalet is detailed with luxurious furnishings throughout adding an atmosphere of opulence whilst keeping tasteful and stylish.

Six comfortable and spacious en-suite bedrooms ensure the best night's sleep whilst an impressive spa including a swimming pool with current swim jet, hot-tub, hammam as well as an outdoor hot tub and barrel sauna on the terrace take care of all your relaxation needs. There is also a separate massage room which can be used for a number of treatments using luxury Bamford products. The living space is incredible with a high ceiling exposing a timber structure, adding a reminder of the traditional grandeur.

Artisans and professionals from the local area were invited to work on the project to ensure that the history of the building wasn't lost. The project was headed by the locally-renowned architect Herve Marullaz of Marullaz Architects in collaboration with the interior stylings of Kyles Garrett of Shep & Kyles Design. The restoration started in the summer of 2017 and the external façade was to be carefully resorted in line with its 18th century origins. Originally, the property was designed by an Italian architect during the reign of Louis XV. The owners, who hail from Scotland, have added a few elements of national heritage such as a feature staircase in the heart of the property which was hewn from 370-million-year-old sedimentary Caithness stone from the Northern Highlands of Scotland. The connection with Scotland extends to exclusive furniture commissioned from Scottish design houses and textiles supplied from Glasgow-based Timorous Beasties.
