The Hotellerie de Mascognaz in Champoluc is owned by Paolo Vitelli. Given that Paolo also owns Azimut Yachts (manufacturing luxury motor yachts) it's fair to say that he is no stranger to creating beautiful, luxury interiors. This hotel is an incredible restoration of a small Walser hamlet dating back to the 14th Century which is located above the resort of Champoluc and only accessed by one of the hotel's many off-road vehicles. From the bottom of the home pistes and the main lifts it takes about fifteen minutes to reach the hamlet.
From the outside the buildings all retain their traditional features and charm and it really feels like you have stepped back in time. This is apparent until you open the door to one of the chalet buildings which are spread out either side of a small valley with its trickling stream. Each door opens on to a world of luxury and comfort combined with some of the best hospitality in the Alps. The main hotel building has a large sitting room with an open fire and intimate areas with groups of sofas and chairs - perfect places in which to relax with a complimentary tea and cakes. Downstairs you have an excellent restaurant where you will be served high quality four course evening meals made from locally sourced ingredients. The wine selection here is also comprehensive and particularly good value for money.
The hamlet is able to accommodate up to fifty guests in bedrooms that are spread over half a dozen walser buildings and the main hotel building. Some of these buildings would be the ideal size for a family, or a group of friends, to take for exclusive use. These little chalets are each totally unique and finished in their own individual style. Perfect if you are looking to relax with your family or friends away from the crowds.

Facilities
There is a fully equipped wellness centre, the Etre Mascognaz, which offers a sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and hydro-massage shower. There is also a large modern indoor swimming pool which is housed within a building dating back several centuries and treatment rooms where you can enjoy various massage treatments. The Hotel also has two different meeting rooms both of which can seat up to 30-40 people. Both are equipped with video projector, screen, computer, flip chart and Wi-Fi. There is also a virtual golf game.
