The Relais & Chateau Hotel Hameau Albert 1er (Premier) is one of the best hotels in Chamonix. Having been run by the same family since 1903 they should know what they are doing. The Hameau Albert 1er, made up of chalets and a historical main building, resembles a small hamlet, nestled in a rustic garden, with a brook flowing between the fruit trees. The main building has 21 contemporary rooms, the Ferme, is a chalet style building incorporating a further 12 beautifully appointed rooms which combine the old with the new. Traditional wood throughout combined with mod cons such as whirpool spa baths and fireplace. Finally, the complex boasts a couple of delightful chalets that can sleep up to 6 people with their own sauna, massive lounge, fireplace, and 2 en-suite bedrooms. This makes an ideal place for a family to stay.
What really sets the hotel apart is the food, so much so we would suggest this is the ultimate hotel for mountain mad foodies. The inventive cooking of chef Pierre Maillet has taken over from his father-in-law Pierre Carrier, and retains two Michelin stars. The rustic Maison Carrier serves traditional regional dishes informally around a huge fireplace with a dessert tray to die for.
The hotel also boasts a lovely spa with indoor and outdoor pool for some downtime after a day on the slopes.
